How To Disable Opera One Splash Screen Animation
As you know, the Opera browser has gone through a major update with the Opera One version and there have been great innovations in design. One of the innovations we have seen with this new version is that when we open the browser after the browser update, it greets us with an Opera animation and opening sound. Although it is a nice detail, with the latest updates, this animation and opening sound repeat every time and start to become annoying for some users. I faced the same situation. In Opera One version 102.0.4880.33, seeing its animation and hearing the opening sound every time it started was getting annoying. At the same time, this welcome screen was delaying the opening of the browser. I finally found the practical solution and got rid of this situation.
So How?
First of all, I searched for a solution in Opera’s browser settings, but I could not find any option related to this welcome screen. Finally, after my research, I learned that the source of this opening animation is a file named opera_gx_splash.exe located in the Opera installation directory. Then I found this file, renamed it, and got rid of this boot animation that popped up every time.
Process steps
First of all, I learned the directory where the browser is installed from the About screen of Opera. You can access the About screen from the Opera icon at the top left by following the Help -> About Opera options.
Another method is to paste opera://about/ into the browser address bar. Paste this phrase in the address bar, and when you proceed, you can access the About screen and learn the installation directory.
After entering the page, copy the path found in the Installation section (the expression starting as C:\Users… in the example).
Open windows file explorer and paste in the address bar where the phrase Search Results in Opera is in the screenshot above and navigate to the file path. Then, when you go to this file path, search for the opera_gx_splash.exe file in the top right search bar and find it. Delete this file after you find it, or rename it if you want to keep it as a backup. When you start the browser again after this process, you will not see the opening animation.
See you in my next post…
